The White Stag

A mythical creature? No, not really … he actually exists in nature. And, no he’s not albino. Rather, he’s white as a result of a genetic mutation that causes his hair and skin to lose pigment. The difference between albino and this genetic mutation – called leucism – lies in the fact that albinos have red eyes ~ no pigment in the eyes. Perhaps his colour has led to his close association with the unicorn and leads us to hold him in mythical proportions. +/- expand post

Various legends exist regarding the white stag … and here in the UK just about every village has a tavern named The White Hart. The loveliest legends and stories about the white stag make him a messenger, a creature that eludes capture by humans, and even a creature which guides the souls of the recently deceased to the other side.

The white stag eludes our capture because he represents our quest for spiritual knowledge and also our capacity to overcome our challenges and difficulties. The accomplishment lies in his pursuit … not in his capture. The white stag seems, to me, a vestige of beauty … a metaphor for our pursuit of life and living.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

  4. i come to leave blessings upon you child. youre a fine lass that pleases her Father greatly with her love of living things and quick mind! i know a white wolf who would greatly relish this post. in fact, i know that she would love to send to you something in appreciation for your goodness.

since you are so close to my beloved ireland perhaps i could pop down and hoist a pint with you? ahhhh, if only i were a flesh man instead of a vapor i might do so!

happy saint patricks day, lass. i leave you with a bouquet and bells of ireland. i will place them in the antlers of the Lord’s fine mystical beast.

  5. hey … i know a certain white wolf, too. happy st. pat’s day …

  6. hey!! another high wind day. i was impressed greatly by trout today….there was a guy walking across the field and trout busted out and ran to him and escorted him out of our “yard”. i dont mind people cutting through to get to the river…i was pleased though to see trout patrol her area. and knowing she belongs here. yay!

yeah i am worried its lost. it was too small i fear. too small an envelope.

now i have a rather large painting i did when i thought i might do a show about freyas story….but it just came off wrong. i like it though. and i think you will too.

when i get back from chickory i will send you an email with it attached – if you want it, its yours. i think is like 22×30 so i would send it in a tube. ben got his big drawing -but i was like 3 months after i sent it. he sent me a photo of the tube on his porch. i had given that one up too. maybe your fox will arrive by christmas. grrrrrherherha

  7. hey grrrl … i hope i get the small envelope … one never knows. yeah, yeah, send me the email with attachment. and … when you mail things, its a good idea to specify air mail … ya gotta spell it out for these post office morons, unfortunately.

good on trout for being protective! that’s what i miss about having a dog … lately, there have been some wierdo losers in this block that try their keys in our lock! grrr … and scary. particularly when its 1, 2, or 3 am!

i love england … but its a culture shock, learning to live in the ‘old world.’ one wouldn’t think so … but, its true.

stay safe … love to you.
